Dr Sean Zhu is a registered Chinese medicine practitioner and certified acupuncturist in Australia. He graduated from Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine in 2003 and gained his clinical experience as a registered Chinese medicine practitioner for 20 years. He began his master degree in one of the Chinese top orthopaedic hospitals in 2008 and continued his PhD studying in University of Western Australia with full-scholarship as rising star in medical field in 2011. His PhD investigation concentrated on the treatment of osteoporosis, a common age-related disease in Australia. Dr Zhu published his findings in two top leading journals and his research has attracted global academic attention. 

 

After graduation, he continued his career as an acupuncturist and Chinese medicine practitioner in Perth. To him, the combination of needles and herbs open a new door for the treatment of bone-related diseases. He cured the patients who suffered from joint pain. In addition, many elderly patients with osteoporosis and arthritis have avoided operation or relying on painkillers with his acupuncture treatment.

 

He also has rich experience in treating infertility through Chinese herb medicine and acupuncture. The principle of his selecting acupoints is aiming at stimulating the kidney, calming the liver, stimulating blood, and regulating Chong and Ren meridians The Chinese herb medicine that he chooses focuses on promoting embryo implantation inducing ovulation and decreasing ovarian hypofunction. Up to now, he has helped more than 100 couples realizing the dream of becoming parents, among which 60% of populations are over 35 years old. Dr. Zhu has inherited and carried forward the academic thoughts and experiences of Shanghai-style pediatric TCM, focusing on common, frequently occurring, and difficult-to-treat pediatric diseases. His expertise covers respiratory, digestive, nutritional, endocrine, and nervous systems. He specializes in integrated internal and external treatments for recurrent respiratory tract infections, asthma, adenoid hypertrophy, rhinitis, infant eczema, infant regurgitation, anorexia, functional disorders, chronic diarrhea, malnutrition, precocious puberty, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity disorder, tic Disorders and other such conditions.

 

Furthermore, Dr Sean is passionate about integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine to help young patients with various illnesses, such as allergic rhinitis. He manages to improve nasal ventilation and reduce nasal secretions via using long needles, inspired by the combination of traditional acupuncture and modern medical anatomy. 

 

After studying and working here for nearly 14 years Dr Sean is deeply impressed by Australian culture, such as Melbourne Cup and AFL. He is keen to contribute further to the development of Chinese medicine in Australia. He is confident that he can deliver a high standard of clinical outcome for his clients in his clinic.
